Rod Laver Arena, originally just referred to as 'the tennis centre' until it was renamed in 2000, is a tennis stadium made world famous by the Australian Open grand slam tennis tournament it hosts that was opened in 1987 as to replace Kooyong Stadium.
It is a state-of-the-art arena with a 16,000 capacity, which is large enough to host the many musical A-listers who have played there during its life, from Madonna to KISS and Eurythmics, Tom Jones, The Cure, Take That, P!nk, Lenny Kravitz and Kylie, even K-pop group Got7, as well as beloved Australian musical productions of Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar and Hugh Jackman's recent musical theatre spectacular the Greatest Showman.
